95. The Cardigans - My Favourite Game

directed by jonas arkerlund, this video is simple and extremely affective. it refers to the game in the song with a game with death and features the female lead of the cardigans driving into oncoming traffic at full speed. this fast paced piece of footage works incredibly well with teh almost chilled out vocals and alternative rock style of the music, emphasising the sucidal depressive aspect of the video. as the video coninues acording to the climax of the song it features a number of explosions, something i my self deem uneccesary, but what else could be expected from the gret child liek mind of jonas akerlund, which also explains the comical end in the womens death after her survival of the carcrash only to be killed by the rock that had held the throttole to the floor.

96. So Solid Crew - 21 Seconds

the so solid crew track, entitled 21 seconds because of the estimated time each band member was given to perform their piece, coursed racial controversy, with it even beign considered that it should not be aired. it brought to like the stigma and stereotypical asociations people had in regardess to ethnic minority youth. because the group featured a very large number of black adults it was percieved to be promoting gang, when in fact it actualy promoted community and support. the video its self reads almost like a comic book, with each artist having their own personalised entrance and stage presence.

97. Cornershop - Brimful of Asha

This video uses a very simple iconic idea, and explores the fun or jsut sitting with an old recordplayer and going through old records. the band is highlighted in an almost brainwashing subliminal level with thier name apearing on every record seen, and and everysleeve. however the idea of having the bandmembers images moving on the sleeves was a brilliant success.

98. Bronski Beat - Small Town Boy

This video adresses key issues, in sort of crude but affective manner, of the homosexual culture of the 1980s. although homosexuality was accepted by many many were fearful of it and disgusted by it and proceeded to indulge in homophobic ideas and activities incuding 'gay beating.' the music video features the lead singer, jimmy somerville, an openly gay musician and follows the story of a young man from a small town coming to london, visiting a swimming pull before being beaten up by a gang of men and returned hoem by the police to his family you then reject him because of his sexual orientation. this video, although crude and a little stereotypical focuses and draws attention to many situations and life expiriences homosexual men and women had and in some cases, still have to deal with.

99. Supergrass - Pumping on Your Stereo

This promotional video, directed by hammer and tongs, takes a very simple yet affective idea and produces a succesful and imaginitive music video that cannot be reproduced with the same impact and affect.

100 Greatest Music Videos: Musical Youth - Pass the Dutchie 1982

this is 100 in the channel fours list fo the worlds greatest music videos. this video was the first of a young black group to be aired on mtv making it a foundation stone for the introduction of black artists onto the music channel. although it was the first of its kind to be aired of mtv, all drug references had to be removed from the song replacing the word kutchie rom the mighty diamonds cover song which was slang for a cannabis pipe, with the word dutchie, a cooking pot.
