Jamie Thraves British Film Writer and Director

Jamie Thraves Studied at Hull Unicersity where he first started to experiment wiht making short films in 1989 having prevously studies illustration.
he was alrady an award winning film short film director beofre he started to produce music videos and his graduation piece 'scratch' and 'the take out' had won awards at filmfestivals all around the world. he joined the royal college of art making furthering his career by producing more award winning short films but let to join the oil factory, breaking into the music industry by producing th emusic vodeo for radio heads 'just.'   the strong narrative structure of the video broke the pattern of simple videos being produced at the time and got mr thraves alot of attention. the video was created in jsut three days with a relatively small budget of just £100,000. the video is incredibly impressive and demonstrates a reall understanding of time and audience manipulation. this simple concept manages to produce an incredibly complex and powerful visual piece.

the musci promo video for this song by the rolling stones adopts an almost documentary style, capturing and displaying the creative production of music by the world renown band as well as the personas of the members of the band includign the affects of their drug use. Also, in a staged composition, the video mocks the drug raid the the member........ house in which he was arrested. the video also features a court house were the trial of .......... is compared to the trial against....... dealing with issues of homosexuality and homophobia and its irational predjudice. with in the court scene a fur rug is presented to the judge in reference to a section of the police report, where it states that ..... was found naked under a fur rug. overall this video is extremely enlightening, it uses the power of media to mock and degrade the prejudices of the law, much like the video by george michael.

this video for me is the embodiment of what every power balald music videos should be. its dramitic scenes of high shadows, strewn light, flowing light fabrics, doves, beautiful children, angels, a choir and beautiful chorepgraphed dance.

95. The Cardigans - My Favourite Game

directed by jonas arkerlund, this video is simple and extremely affective. it refers to the game in the song with a game with death and features the female lead of the cardigans driving into oncoming traffic at full speed. this fast paced piece of footage works incredibly well with teh almost chilled out vocals and alternative rock style of the music, emphasising the sucidal depressive aspect of the video. as the video coninues acording to the climax of the song it features a number of explosions, something i my self deem uneccesary, but what else could be expected from the gret child liek mind of jonas akerlund, which also explains the comical end in the womens death after her survival of the carcrash only to be killed by the rock that had held the throttole to the floor.

96. So Solid Crew - 21 Seconds

the so solid crew track, entitled 21 seconds because of the estimated time each band member was given to perform their piece, coursed racial controversy, with it even beign considered that it should not be aired. it brought to like the stigma and stereotypical asociations people had in regardess to ethnic minority youth. because the group featured a very large number of black adults it was percieved to be promoting gang, when in fact it actualy promoted community and support. the video its self reads almost like a comic book, with each artist having their own personalised entrance and stage presence.
