98. Bronski Beat - Small Town Boy
This video adresses key issues, in sort of crude but affective manner, of the homosexual culture of the 1980s. although homosexuality was accepted by many many were fearful of it and disgusted by it and proceeded to indulge in homophobic ideas and activities incuding 'gay beating.' the music video features the lead singer, jimmy somerville, an openly gay musician and follows the story of a young man from a small town coming to london, visiting a swimming pull before being beaten up by a gang of men and returned hoem by the police to his family you then reject him because of his sexual orientation. this video, although crude and a little stereotypical focuses and draws attention to many situations and life expiriences homosexual men and women had and in some cases, still have to deal with.
