Digipak: What it is

A Digipak is a patented form of casing for either a CD or DVD. it provides a platform for further exploration of themes, inspiration and ideas through visual formats rather than audio. This visual stimuli can work with as well as provide another point of view on the topic of the artists album/single.  album art has played a key and prominent part in music history with many pieces causing contraversy, becoming iconic images of a time period or culture, and some expressing political views such as sgt peppers lonely hearts club band by the beatles.
Thankfully album art has continued into the digital age of music, however it seems that digipaks are destined to serve a more nostalgic purpose such as the continued production of records in current physical production, but it is clear that eventualy this will become unprofitable and will cease. Despite this producing a digipak provides a great opportunity to try and explore our chosen artist further. we are going to be producing a 6 panel digipak with the cd placed on the right interior panel.
